Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry includes anything which improves the appearance of your teeth. This can be as simple as “whitening” or “bleaching”, or as involved as a full mouth reconstruction with porcelain crowns and porcelain veneers on all of the teeth. There are also many other treatment plans which vary according to a patients desires or finances.

At Jenkintown Dental Associates we have been performing cosmetic dentistry before it
was known as cosmetic dentistry. One of the first things people notice when they meet someone, is their teeth and their smile. A bright, clean smile, enhances a first impression. With today’s new materials and technology, and with the many advanced procedures available, there is no reason for anyone to be unhappy with their smile. Some patients still fear “going to the dentist”, but with the proper medications to reduce anxiety, and the appropriate type of anesthetic, all of these procedures can be completed quickly and painlessly.

Cosmetic dentistry includes a wide range of procedures, and wide range of prices. It can be as simple as removing a dark discolored silver filling and replacing it with a tooth colored restoration. It can mean making a patient a new denture with lifelike teeth and teeth which are more visible below their upper lip. It can mean replacing old, unnatural, opaque crowns with black lines at the gumline with lifelike all porcelain crowns. It can mean replacing a partial denture with unsightly metal clasps with implants, or a partial denture without clasps. It can mean reshaping (cosmetic recontouring) teeth, or moving teeth (minor tooth movement). It can involve bonding teeth with the newest types of composite materials and bonding agents. Or it can be a simple as whitening a patient’s teeth.

With all of the wonderful new materials and procedures in dentistry today there is no reason why anyone should be unhappy with their smile. It has been exciting to see and learn the new procedures available and to put these into use in our practice. Because of our dedication to continuing education, we can offer our patients the most advanced procedures available. If you have questions or concerns about the appearance of your teeth, you should come into our office for a consultation.
